About this tea

Chrysanthemum Bud Tea

Chrysanthemum has been infused in China for centuries, valued for its clarity and its quiet, floral character. These small, whole buds come from Jiangsu.

The 40 g size comes in a glass jar, made to stay out on the table rather than be hidden in a cupboard. It is an object of beauty long before it is opened.

In hot water each bud slowly loosens and rises. The infusion is clear and delicate, and especially beautiful in a glass vessel, where the buds can be watched as they open.

Lovely on its own, or alongside a green tea for a softer, more floral cup.

Pale green tea poured from a stoneware teapot into a speckled cup on a walnut tray, a scoop of leaves beside it.

The Ritual

Prepared with care, remembered for longer.

Warm the vessel. Measure the leaves. Pour, wait, and pay attention. The ritual of Chinese tea is simple, and it is the surest way to bring out everything a fine leaf has to offer.
